Strawberries on the Way

Our 2013 strawberry patch is not open yet (as of May 15th), but the strawberries are finally starting to ripen after the much cooler spring weather.  While we wait for a higher volume of berries to pick, we are distributing berries to our 2013 CSA members who pick up at the Farm. Once we have picked enough berries for our members we will open the patch to the public. Please keep checking this blog or Facebook for current picking information. You can also email us and we will add you to our Strawberry email list. Thank you for your patience as you wait with us for the berries to ripen.  Fresh picked strawberries are always worth the wait!

I have added you to our list and will let you know as soon as we are open to the public. The warmer weather is helping!

All our crops are extremely dependent on weather and the cool, wet spring has been extremely hard on our original strawberry patch causing a significantly lower volume of berries. Because of this we will not be able to open our first patch for you-pick this year. This is very disappointing to us, not only because of the loss of income, but because we also enjoy seeing everyone in the spring and sharing our great-tasting, healthy berries with you.

In early May we were able to plant 15,000 new strawberry plants and they are looking very healthy. Weather-permitting, the plants should be producing berries by the end of June. We hope to be able to open for strawberry picking when the new plants are producing berries and will notify everyone immediately of their availability via this blog, email and Facebook. Thanks for understanding – we hope to have some great strawberries for you later in June.
