A-Maize-ing Race Questions and Answers

How much is registration?

Registration for the 5K is $25 per person prior to September 23, 2016. Beginning September 24, registration fees are $30 per person. A $3.00 service charge will be added to all online registrations. If you prefer, you may download a 2016 5K Paper Registration and return it to us via mail or at the farm.

Will I get lost during the 5K?

 

The A-MAIZE-ing Race course will be marked. Follow the markings and you won’t get lost!

Am I allowed to walk?

 

Walkers will begin the 5K Race course last and must be complete with their walk in 1.5 hours or less.

 

When will I receive my wave time?

 

You will receive your Wave time when you register the morning of the Race, starting at 7 a.m. Look for an email with detailed information the week of the Race.

 

Are there awards?

The winners of each age category will be recognized at the conclusion of the Race. Prizes are provided by Liberty Mills Farm and Ragged Mountain Running Shop.

Can I organize a team?

Yes! We encourage you to form a team (minimum of 6 members). Team members must be registered by September 24, 2016 and receive a $5 discount on the race price ($20 per team member – minimum $120).

Can I wear my Cross Country spikes?

Cross Country (short) spikes will be allowed on the Race course.

Can I make an additional donation?

You may make an additional donation at the time of online registration or bring a check with you on Race day made payable to the American Heart Association.

Will the maze be open for my family while I am running the Race?

The Corn Maze will not be available to non-participants until 11:00 a.m. All finishers will receive a ticket discount to be used for the maze after it opens.  Your family is welcome to enjoy activities like Corn Hole and Pumpkin Checkers while they wait or they can pick a 5 gallon bucket of flowers for $30 (must bring your own bucket). Liberty Mills Farm will donate $5 to the American Heart Association for every bucket that is picked on Race day.

Are there bathrooms at the Farm?

Porta-potties will be available the day of the Race.

What can I do in the area after the Race?

You can enjoy the full maze with family and friends starting at 11:00 a.m. or you can visit Montpelier, the home of James and Dolley Madison, explore area wineries or grab lunch at Barbecue Exchange in Gordonsville, the Exchange Cafe at Montpelier or Wise Guys in Orange. We encourage you to make a weekend of it and stay at one of the award-winning B&B’s located in Orange County. Visit the Inns at Montpelier to make your reservations today!

Are there refunds if it rains?

There will be no refunds. The Race will be held rain or shine unless the conditions are considered dangerous.

How will my entry fee benefit the American Heart Association

A minimum donation of $5 per registration will be donated to the American Heart Association. Additional donations may be made during online registration. You may also bring a check with you to the Race for an additional donation.  Based on sponsorship and number of participants, we hope to increase the contribution. Last year we donated $1250 to the American Heart Association and we are trying to grow the donation size each year.
